Aim and audience
The Neuroaffirmative CPD Journal supports health professionals working in health settings to develop reflective, practical, and realistic approaches to improving health outcomes for neurodivergent people. It is intended for clinicians and services who want to recognise opportunities to make their service more accessible and translate learning into everyday change.
A neuroaffirmative approach: Focusing on strengths to improve outcomes
Neuroaffirmative describes an approach that views neurological differences (like autism, ADHD, dyslexia) as natural human variations, not deficits needing fixing. This can be achieved by focusing on strengths, acceptance, and adapting environments rather than trying to change the person.
What is a CPD journal?
A CPD (Continuing Professional Development) journal is a documented, personal record tracking an individual’s professional learning, skill acquisition, and career experience. It acts as a reflective portfolio, capturing both formal training and informal learning to evidence competency, identify development needs, and demonstrate commitment to industry standards.
What does the Neuroaffirmative CPD Journal include?
- A chapter of useful words and working definitions
- A flexible weekly planner with reflective questions that can be used as a schedule or a to-do list
- End-of-week reflection prompts to support deeper thinking
- Action-focused prompts to help turn reflection into practical change
- An undated format with enough pages for a full year of use
